Prairie Acres Agricultural
Technology Park

The Kelley and Adler families have donated 35 acres on the southwest corner of U.S. 31 and C. R. 550 North to a local not for profit organization for the development of an agricultural technology park. This venture will capitalize upon the unique heritage of the area and will serve as a catalyst for linking new age agriculture employers to the traditional farm base for which Tipton County is so well known. The land, located along U. S. Highway 3l is adjacent to the Kelley Agricultural History Museum and Adler’s Seeds, Inc. The agricultural technology park will represent the “Agricultural Future” in an already established “Past” and “Present” agricultural complex. The Ag Tech Park will be a central piece in the county’s business growth effort.

This proposal was unveiled on October 11, 2006, to the citizens of Tipton County and has been endorsed by the Tipton County Board of Commissioners, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Purdue University, and Indiana University. It is the goal of the Ag Tech Park’s executive framers to bring 10-12 agricultural technology companies to the site and to eventually employ 300 people. The objectives in the creation of this park are aligned with the State of Indiana’s administration in their commitment to focus on the promotion of the agricultural industry. A seven member not-for-profit board, selected by the Kelley family, will be responsible for the governance and operations of the park’s activities and in maintaining strategic partnerships with area organizations that agree to their conclusions. Tenants will not be required to purchase the land on which to construct their building.

Additionally there are 45 acres to the south of the Ag Tech Park available for any type of business associated with agriculture. There are plans being put into place now to ensure that the area is serviced with full utilities.

Harnessing the legacy of our history with the realities of the future, this project seeks to create jobs through the integration of production agriculture with high technology and state of the art services. The Agricultural Technology Park will be the first in Indiana.
